Job title: Occupational Health Advisor
Reports to: Clinical Manager
Accountable to: Head of Clinical Services
Key working relationships: Clinical Manager, Clinical Lead, Operations Manager, Senior OHAs, Contracts Manager, Clients
Job purpose: The Occupational Health Advisor will work remotely from home as part of the team for one or more named clients. The post holder will contribute to the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Service and play a key role with the ongoing development of the company and service provision to our clients.
The role will include sickness absence management, complex case management and post offer health assessments. You will be expected to use your specialist clinical skills to provide expert, evidence-based assessments and produce high standard and quality management advice reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To work as an independent practitioner and be able to provide impartial, professional, evidence-based, specialist advice and support to employees and their managers.

To carry out telephone and video case management within OHWorks guidelines and produce comprehensive and holistic reports to management with signposting as appropriate.

To recognise a cause for concern and act appropriately whether it is of a physical or psychological nature.

Manage health records ensuring safe storage, security, and confidentiality of all OH records at all times complying with relevant legislation and good practice.

Providing advice to employees on improving their health and support in returning them to work/maintaining their attendance.

Managing cases from date of referral to sustained return to work, following up with individuals as required and updating HR/line managers on the outcome of those interventions.

Undertaking Case Conferences with management as necessary

To have good IT skills, especially with the use of Microsoft Office packages including Teams and be able to use patient management systems following training and support.

Conduct post-offer health assessments and have a good knowledge of UK legislation and guidance on fitness for work.

Participate in all clinical governance activities including clinical audit and training.

Participate in all aspects of SEQOHS.

Undertake defined projects to support the delivery of clinically effective and evidence-based guidance.

To work in accordance with all OHWorks policies and protocols

The post holder must adhere to the standards of record keeping established by the Company to ensure compliance with Information Security Governance and current legislative and professional requirements.

The post holder is expected to take responsibility for self-development on a continuous basis, undertaking on-the-job and other training as required. Travel time to/from any external courses provided by the Company is expected to be in the post holder’s own time.

The post holder is required to familiarise themselves with and comply with the Company’s policies and procedures.

The post holder must be aware of individual responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and identify and report, as necessary, any untoward accident, incident or potentially hazardous environment.

The post holder is expected to develop their IT skills.

The Company operates a strict No Smoking Policy.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
-
Registered Nurse on the NMC register.
-
Qualified in Occupational Health at Certificate, Diploma or Degree level or significant experience within an occupational health setting.

Full support and funding may be provided to those without the OH qualification after one year of satisfactory service.

Trainees will work under supervision to develop key skills. Self-motivation to learn and improve clinical effectiveness is essential.

Excellent organisational and planning skills.
-
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required.
-
To ensure that knowledge is maintained of up-to-date legislation and best practices relating to all Occupational Health issues.

Well-organized, capable of turning their hand to a variety of tasks.
-
A team player, but able to work on their own initiative and be self-sufficient.

Strong IT skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office and a willingness to develop their IT skills further, with the OH IT system (training will be provided).

Flexible and positive approach to work with a ‘can do’ attitude.

Self-awareness and a sense of respect for others irrespective of gender, social class, race or sexual orientation.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
